Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to pass an annual DOT physical and comply with the Community Driving Policy.
  • Able to safely operate an 18-passenger bus for resident trips and outings.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and social skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with senior adults.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer proficiency and comfort with basic technology.
  • Prior experience in senior living activities or similar programming.
  • Strong communication skills with residents, families, and staff.
  • Proficiency with desktop publishing or similar software for newsletter design and development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement engaging recreational programs and events for Independent Living residents.
  • Collaborate closely with residents, staff, and community partners to design meaningful activities.
  • Create and publish monthly programming calendars; organize events, outings, and special programs.
  • Coordinate scheduling and facility use across departments; manage activity room reservations.
  • Prepare event spaces, including setup, supplies, equipment, and inventory management.
  • Gather and incorporate resident feedback through daily interaction and committee collaboration.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with the departmental budget for programming.
  • Attend departmental meetings and represent Resident Services leadership when needed.
  • Drive the passenger bus for resident outings as required.
  • Support organizational mission and adhere to all policies, safety procedures, and job standards.
