About The Position

The Activities Manager is a high-energy, operations-focused leader responsible for the success and execution of guest engagement programs. Reporting directly to the Senior Resort Manager, this role owns the "fun economy"—driving year over year revenue growth in-room packages while simultaneously designing and leading high-impact activities. These activities are essential for driving guest engagement, increasing perceived value, and fostering long-term brand loyalty. This position also serves as a Resort Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed with full resolution authority and supports regional brand efforts through community events and mascot appearances.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Tennessee Driver’s License: Or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Must possess or obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Maintain insurability through the company insurance program.
  • Must be comfortable being "on the floor" for the majority of the shift, leading activities and interacting with guests.
  • Ability to drive departmental growth and manage inventory effectively.
  • Ability to pivot from high-energy guest interaction to executive-level Resort Manager problem-solving.
  • Must be able to travel as needed within the Knoxville region for brand events.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn resort booking (Visual 1)/inventory software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead a diverse calendar of daily guest activities (poolside games, crafts, scavenger hunts) that enhance the resort atmosphere and maximize guest participation.
  • Ensure all programming is executed at a top-tier level to drive guest satisfaction and positive online sentiment.
  • Responsible for the year over year revenue growth of the activities department, specifically focusing on birthday party volume and the fulfillment of in-room packages.
  • Oversee the end-to-end fulfillment of all in-room packages selected by guests during the reservation process (online or via the call center).
  • Manage the activities staff in the physical fulfillment and installation of all in-room packages, ensuring 100% accuracy and high visual standards before guest arrival.
  • Directly manage all physical inventory, vendor ordering, and stock levels for in-room package merchandise, craft supplies, and activity equipment.
  • Serve as a Resort Manager on an as-needed basis, providing leadership coverage and operational support for the facility.
  • Maintain full authority to resolve guest disputes during MOD shifts, including the power to issue financial adjustments (comps/refunds) to ensure total guest satisfaction.
  • Provide as-needed regional support by representing the resort at Knoxville-area community events and managing mascot appearances.
  • Directly manages the Activities Team, performers, and fulfillment staff.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training "Brand Ambassadors"; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and ensuring the team accurately executes all BEOs and fulfills pre-booked in-room packages.
