The position involves planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing resident-centered activities for the facility. The role requires keeping abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards. Effective communication between employees of all levels, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the public is essential to ensure the needs and best interests of the residents, community, and facility are met. Participation in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and family is also required. The position includes participation in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies and assisting in reviewing and developing a plan of correction for activity deficiencies noted during survey inspections. Regular meetings with various committees and councils are part of the responsibilities, as well as assisting in discharge planning, developing activity care plans, and arranging transportation for residents. The role also involves developing a monthly activity schedule for residents and encouraging participation in self-initiated activities.
