About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Activities Director to lead and manage the recreational and therapeutic activities program for a skilled nursing facility in Orange, NJ. This role is responsible for creating engaging, meaningful programming that supports residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate has prior experience running an activities department in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting and understands the needs of both short-term rehab and long-term residents.

Requirements

Previous experience as an Activities Director in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility
Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations related to activities programming
Experience working with both long-term care and short-term rehab populations
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to engage residents with diverse cognitive and physical needs

Nice To Haves

Certification or eligibility for Activities Director Certification preferred (ADC or equivalent)

Responsibilities

Plan, develop, and oversee a comprehensive activities program for SNF residents
Design group and one-on-one activities tailored to resident interests, abilities, and care plans
Supervise, train, and schedule activities staff and volunteers
Coordinate special events, holiday programming, and community outings
Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with care plans and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and social services teams
Ensure compliance with state regulations, CMS guidelines, and facility policies
Manage activities supplies, calendars, and department budgeting as needed
