About The Position

The Activities and Volunteer Coordinator (AVC) is responsible for developing and leading a successful and engaging resident centered activity and volunteer program for the whole Sunrise Senior Living community. Requirements

  • One (1) year experience preferred in assisted living, long term care, or experience/exposure to the senior population.
  • Ability to lead and motivate volunteers and team members.
  • One (1) year supervisory and management experience.
  • Maintains a current applicable driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) and Sunrise applications.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a balanced resident centered activity program according to the Programming Calendar guidelines and Live with Purpose/Dimension of Wellness Standards.
  • Assess, plan, and manage facilitation of a comprehensive activities program utilizing team members and volunteers.
  • Recruit entertainers and schedule special events.
  • Prepare and review the activity calendar and newsletter with the Executive Director (ED) prior to submitting for printing.
  • Coordinate with other department coordinators to ensure that all equipment and supplies are available for routine activities and special events.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate appropriate mixed group activities.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled and specialized activities in the Reminiscence Neighborhood three times weekly.
  • Provide support to the Reminiscence Coordinator (RC)/Resident Care Coordinator (RCC) on the development of the reminiscence calendar.
  • Ensure compliance of all federal, state/provincial, and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a robust public relations program in support of the activities programming and community operations.
  • Network in the local community to establish and develop a relationship with local businesses, organizations, and schools to build and maintain a volunteer base.
  • Manage and implement a consistent volunteer orientation and training program.
  • Implement a volunteer recognition program.
  • Involve families, residents, and community volunteers in the activity program.
  • Review, read, notate, and initial the Daily Log to document and learn about pertinent information and any resident's physical and behavioral changes.
  • Develop an individualized program of activities of focused care.
  • Assist in the presentation and value of Sunrise's products and services.
  • Assist the Executive Director in completing the annual community budget.
  • Ensure that the community follows all federal, state/provincial, and local laws and regulations.
  • Manage the department, including recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and disciplining.
