About The Position

The position involves planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing resident-centered activities for the facility. The role requires keeping abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards. Effective communication between employees of all levels, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the public is essential to ensure the needs and best interests of the residents, community, and facility are met. Participation in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and family is also required. The position includes participation in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies and assisting in reviewing and developing a plan of correction for activity deficiencies noted during survey inspections. Regular meetings with various committees and councils are part of the responsibilities, as well as assisting in discharge planning and developing activity care plans and resident assessments. The role also involves arranging transportation for residents and developing a monthly activity schedule that includes various activities for residents, encouraging self-initiated activities, and ensuring that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferably one year of experience in a long-term care facility.
  • Ability to read technical procedures and comprehend policy manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
  • Activity Director certification.
