About The Position

The Community Life - Activity Director (Therapeutic Recreational Director) is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Activity Department in a resident-focused community. This role aims to enhance the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of residents through tailored recreational programs and activities, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in therapeutic recreation or equivalent training/experience.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in therapeutic recreation, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to assess resident therapeutic recreation needs and develop appropriate programs.
  • Working knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an ongoing program of activities that meets the interests and well-being of each resident.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of each resident's recreational needs and document findings.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for therapeutic recreation programs addressing residents' psychological, physical, and social needs.
  • Ensure compliance with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines.
  • Recruit and hire qualified recreation staff to provide appropriate resident care.
  • Assist in developing and adhering to a budget for recreation services.
  • Promote company programs through community interactions.
  • Arrange for recreational activities outside the facility as needed.
  • Develop and supervise an active volunteer program.
  • Provide innovative healthcare solutions by creating and implementing new ideas to improve systems and processes.
