About The Position

The Activities Director at Providence Living plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in an assisted living community. This position involves planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities and programs that promote social interaction and personal reflection among residents. The Activities Director is responsible for creating a vibrant community atmosphere through various events and activities, ensuring that each resident has opportunities to participate and enjoy their daily lives.

Requirements

  • Bilingual
  • CPR Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Knowledge of resident's rights
  • Experience in recreational therapy
  • Ability to create care plans
  • Under 1 year of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the Activity Programs of the Community.
  • Plan and schedule movies, parties, games, projects, crafts, resources, and field trips for residents at least one month in advance.
  • Provide craft supplies and materials, assist and supervise residents with activities.
  • Provide training in designing creative activity programs daily, monthly, and annually to meet the individual needs and interests of the residents.
  • Mentor in planning and designing the activities calendar each month, including distribution to residents, family members, and friends.
  • Guide staff on how to meet one-on-one with residents to assess appropriate programs for those who cannot participate in group settings.
  • Guide transportation of residents to and from events outside of the residence, including driving the residence van/bus and monitoring residents.
  • Manage the Activities department monthly budget.
  • Train department staff to engage community staff in delivering activities and enhancing residents' quality of life.
  • Identify activities for special events at the residence, involving residents, families, and friends.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and keep recorded minutes of Resident Council monthly meetings.
  • Develop steps to identify community resources and contacts to enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Maintain friendly and concerned relationships with residents while upholding company policies and procedures.
