About The Position

Bluegrass Senior Living is hiring an EXCEPTIONAL Activities Assistant. This part-time position is needed for weekends, requiring 6 hours each on Saturday and Sunday. The Activities Assistant plans, develops, organizes, and ensures the implementation of a variety of activities for the social, emotional, physical, and other therapeutic needs of each resident by performing various duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to assess residents and design appropriate activity programs.
  • Strong communication skills to work with management and census development teams.
  • Experience in quality assessment and assurance functions.
  • Knowledge of activities policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Ability to manage volunteers and coordinate their training and recognition.
  • Commitment to continuing education and maintaining current skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high energy.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses residents and designs activities programs to meet the functional levels, needs, interests, and choices of each resident.
  • Regularly communicates and works with the management team.
  • Regularly meets with the census development team to plan, organize, and establish goals for the team.
  • Ensures proper documentation is maintained.
  • Performs quality assessment and assurance functions, including serving on the quality and assurance committee, conducting daily regulatory compliance rounds, observing activities on progress on units, reviewing records, implementing corrective measures, and conducting staff members, residents, and family interviews.
  • Assists with the development and update of activities policies and procedures to reflect the philosophy of the Facility, professional standards, and legal requirements.
  • Participates with the Executive Director/designee in survey processes by instructing staff regarding conduct and disclosure, reporting, being present while surveyors are on-site, directing prompt responses to requests for information, and undertaking corrective action if appropriate.
  • Manages volunteers and coordinates their recruitment, orientation, training, and recognition.
  • Maintains and applies current skills and knowledge through continuing education and in-service programs.
  • Carries out responsibilities in compliance with federal, state, local laws and regulations, and with Facility philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists residents in the organization and continued development of a residents' council.
  • Possesses the ability to read and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
