About The Position

The Activities Assistant at Oakland Grove Health Care Center plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Therapeutic Recreation and Memory Care Program Coordinator. This position involves planning, organizing, and directing activities that cater to the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of residents, ensuring a vibrant and engaging environment. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in an Activities Department in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical facility preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and the general public.
• Knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and ensure compliance with facility privacy practices.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm in handling residents.
• Ability to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing policies and procedures.
• Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
• Participation in continuing education and inservice training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and provision of patient care by visiting residents regularly to evaluate needs.
• Document and report any unusual or significant findings to the nursing department.
• Report all reportable events immediately in accordance with policy.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities of daily living that stimulate their potential physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
• Spend duty time with residents rather than with other facility staff.
• Assist with establishing resident care goals within the therapeutic team framework.
