About The Position

The Activities Assistant at Oakland Grove Health Care Center plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Therapeutic Recreation and Memory Care Program Coordinator. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in an Activities Department in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical facility preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and the general public.
  • Knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and ensure compliance with facility privacy practices.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm in handling residents.
  • Ability to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing policies and procedures.
  • Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
  • Participation in continuing education and inservice training.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and provision of patient care by visiting residents regularly to evaluate needs.
  • Document and report any unusual or significant findings to the nursing department.
  • Report all reportable events immediately in accordance with policy.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities of daily living that stimulate their potential physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
  • Spend duty time with residents rather than with other facility staff.
  • Assist with establishing resident care goals within the therapeutic team framework.
