The primary purpose of the Activity Assistant is to support the Activity Director in executing a creative, vibrant, and interactive programs schedule. You will help ensure that our ongoing activities meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of every resident, following all federal, state, and local standards to maintain a high quality of life for our community. Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Skills: A creative spirit, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for working with the geriatric population.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility (minimum one year) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Activity Facilitation: Participate in the planning and leading of diverse activities, ranging from one-on-one bedside visits to large group social events.
  • Program Development: Assist in creating the monthly activity calendar and maintain accurate records of resident participation and attendance.
  • Resident Engagement: Encourage residents to pursue self-initiated hobbies, crafts, and reading. Provide specialized materials, such as audiobooks or Braille, to ensure inclusivity.
  • Clinical Support: Assist with resident assessments, activity care plans, and quarterly progress notes as assigned by the Activity Director.
  • Transportation & Outings: Help arrange transportation for resident outings, medical appointments, and discharge needs.
  • Communication: Maintain professional and friendly communication with residents, families, and staff to ensure the best interests of the residents are always met.
  • Department Standards: Keep the Activity Department clean, organized, and secure. Assist the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee as requested to maintain facility excellence.
