About The Position

Country Village is seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will help plan and facilitate engaging activities that support residents' physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The Activities Assistant plays an important role in helping residents maintain lifelong interests, social connections, and independence while fostering a positive, enriching environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in activities or working with older adults preferred
  • Ability to obtain California Department of Social Services background clearance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing
  • TB test and physical examination required per state regulations
  • Current First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must comply with all facility policies and safety procedures
  • Friendly, upbeat, and motivating personality
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with residents, families, and staff

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead group and individual activities based on residents’ interests and abilities.
  • Encourage resident participation and ensure residents are informed of scheduled activities.
  • Provide bedside activities for residents who cannot attend group events.
  • Adapt activities to meet residents’ cognitive and physical abilities.
  • Assist with creating and distributing the monthly activity calendar and newsletter.
  • Promote a positive and respectful environment that protects the rights, dignity, and individuality of each resident.
  • Monitor activity spaces and equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
  • Support seasonal events, holiday celebrations, and special programs.
  • Follow facility policies related to infection control, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in required training and in-service education.
