Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending English
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with residents, families, visitors, and team members
  • Energetic, self-motivated team player comfortable working in a memory care setting, able to manage dementia-related behaviors, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and following instructions in English
  • Valid driver’s license required; must be able to safely operate the community van

  • Experience working with seniors preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist as part of a team in planning, organizing, and leading meaningful enrichment activities that support the cognitive, emotional, and social well-being of residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Engage residents in group and one-on-one activities such as music, art, sensory experiences, and gentle movement, encouraging participation while respecting individual abilities, preferences, and dignity.
  • Provide individualized support by escorting residents to and from activities, offering 1:1 visits for those who prefer to remain in their apartments, and using technology to enhance experiences.
  • Observe and document resident engagement by completing initial surveys, monitoring responses during activities, and communicating changes or concerns to the care team.
  • Support daily operations by setting up, adapting, and cleaning up activities, completing administrative duties, and assisting with tasks as assigned by the Director of Resident Life
  • Communicate professionally with families and staff
  • Drive the community van for recreational outings and assist residents with safe transfers on and off the vehicle.
