About The Position

The Activities Assistant in Long Term Care (LTC) at Good Samaritan Society is responsible for enhancing the quality of life for patients and residents through meaningful activities and interventions. This role involves administering a monthly activity calendar, engaging residents in various activities, and assisting with simple nursing procedures. The position requires creativity, strong communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously while following state-required activities.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in social services or creative activities preferred.
• Experience in geriatrics preferred.
• Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics.
• Preferred current Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) certification or enrollment in a healthcare-related program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required based on location.

Responsibilities

• Improve the quality of life for patients/residents by providing appropriate activities and interventions.
• Administer the monthly activity calendar and organize activities based on residents' input.
• Engage in activities such as music, crafts, and spiritual activities to support residents' dignity and identity.
• Assist with simple nursing procedures and transport patients/residents as needed.
• Document activities and assist with Minimum Data Set's (MDS's)/EPIC's documentation.
• Demonstrate leadership abilities to develop and motivate residents and staff.
• Exhibit strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills while prioritizing responsibilities.
