Instructs group classes, provides excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Teach classes for the ForeverWell program including but not limited to: Walk with Ease, SAIL, SilverSneakers, and other evidence-based programs designated through the Title III grant funding (5-8 hours).
Communicates and builds relationships with members by doing continuous outreach (phone calls) and helping all problem solve their concerns and providing education.
Provides support to the ForeverWell Coordinator (5 hours/week) and Director of Healthy Living (5 hours/week).
Maintains Personal Training clients at approximately 20 hours per week.
Teaches classes and leads programs to fit needs of all members.
Understands the prevention, detection, and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, basic emergency procedures, and the legal and professional responsibilities of instructing classes and training clients.
Promotes all Duluth YMCA programs, classes, and mission.
CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
National certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
Commitment of supporting principles of equal opportunity and affirmative action to achieve a diverse work environment.
Certification in area(s) of expertise. i.e., Cardio, Strength, Yoga, Cycle, Mat Pilates, Dance, Active Older Adults, Silver Sneakers, etc.
1 year of experience teaching group fitness classes.
