The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is seeking a qualified and trained Active Cyber Defense Engineer, SME II for a role in an engineering support services program for U.S. Army customers at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. The Active Cyber Defense Engineer, SME II is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the security posture of networks, servers, endpoints, and other systems to bring about the successful completion of the CYBERTRON program goals and objectives.. The CYBERTRON program delivers highly skilled engineering services to the U.S. Army C5ISR Center in their mission of cybersecurity research and development and cryptographic modernization. This role functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments and often mentors junior staff

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and possess a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, cybersecurity or other engineering discipline with up to 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Appropriate DoD 8750 certification (Security+ or higher).
  • Requires expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Eligible for TS / SCI
  • Master’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, cybersecurity or other engineering discipline
  • Experience supporting Army programs

Responsibilities

  • Vulnerability & Risk Assessment: Conducts vulnerability and risk assessments, and designs and implements solutions to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information.
  • Security Architecture & Design: Designs, develops, engineers, and implements solutions to multi-level security (MLS) and general security requirements for system architectures.
  • Incident Response: Provides support for complex computer network defense techniques, including identifying and investigating intrusions, and offering incident response and remediation support.
  • Monitoring & Analysis: Performs comprehensive computer surveillance/monitoring, analyzes information requirements, identifies vulnerabilities, and assists with making security improvements.
  • Technical Support: Serves as a technical resource for advising and assisting other departments on security-related projects and operational tasks.
  • Documentation & Planning: Prepares and delivers status reports, develops security standards, and participates in the design of information system contingency plans.
