About The Position

Under general direction of the Active Adults Coordinator and Active Adults Supervisor, the Active Adult Driver will provide transportation in District owned vehicles for registered participants of Active Adult sanctioned events. The Active Adult Driver will perform safety checks on vehicles prior to departure in addition to completing all required trainings and pass DMV checks. This role will serve in a leadership capacity while on outings as a representative of the District and the passengers for the event.

Requirements

  • Candidates over 18 must pass a background check prior to employment.
  • Must be available to work all shifts including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays based on the needs of the District.
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • CPR, AED, first aid certification, or the ability to become certified within the first 90 days of employment
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to ensure safe driving ability
  • Completion of District Driver Safety training

Responsibilities

  • Transports Active Adult program participants to activities according to the schedule
  • Assists with vehicle ingress-egress and passenger mobility to include wheelchair patrons, visually impaired persons and other physically handicapped passengers including those with assistive devices such as walkers and canes.
  • Follows established emergency procedures; checks-out and carries cellular telephone on each trip
  • Performs pre-trip safety checks on vehicles before operation to include; fluid level checks, tire pressure, and proper operation of turn signal lights using mechanical checklist.
  • Cleans and fuels vehicles as required.
  • Creates and maintains records, files and reports for the vehicles.
  • Assists with reports and records as requested by the Active Adult Coordinator
  • Actively works with the public and volunteers to find ways to solve problems and meet their needs with available resources while on District sponsored trips and outings.
  • Explains details of services, methods, or policies; makes referrals to appropriate staff regarding other client concerns or needs.
  • Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Uses all required safety equipment.
