About The Position

Provides mental health support to patients, typically based upon their own experiences. This position involves providing direct supportive services to individuals with mental health symptoms, assisting clients in generating proactive solutions to barriers regarding their recovery, and completing documentation in a timely and accurate manner. The role also includes participating in care coordination to collaborate with community partners, caregivers, family members, physicians, and other treatment providers regularly. Additionally, the position requires working with the care team and consumer to develop a crisis prevention plan and treatment goals to provide person-centered treatment. The individual must act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values, and abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI). Maintaining effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age and at least three years older than the youth
  • Self-identify as a present or former primary consumer of mental health services
  • Minimum of one year in stable recovery
  • State training as identified
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and a dependable vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ experience working with adults in a health-related field
  • BHS Certification for Peer Support Specialists in Kansas (KDADS)

Responsibilities

  • Complete trainings and attend meetings as directed
  • Participate in care coordination to collaborate with community partners, caregivers, family members, physicians and other treatment providers regularly
  • Work with care team and consumer to develop a crisis prevention plan and treatment goals to provide person-centered treatment
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values
  • Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI)

  • Perform other duties as assigned
