About The Position

Supervise, plan, and oversee the work of youth specialty teams, support staff and department activities to include community response as well as the formulation of policies in accordance with Federal and/or State regulations; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; Coordinate and implement youth specialty teams and related program goals and objectives and provide a variety of administrative, professional, and technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility; provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Community Safety Department management team. The Youth violence intervention program team is a multidisciplinary group of mentors with lived experience and mental or behavioral health backgrounds that work to prevent and reduce gun violence amongst those between in middle and school aged youth working through the Albuquerque Community Safety (ACS) department. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing. Work under potentially abusive, hazardous or emergency conditions. Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Four (4) years' experience in social services or health related field
  • To Include two (2) years supervisory experience in one or more elements of a comprehensive social service or health related field.
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
  • Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
  • Successful completion of a security background check conducted by the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.

  • Possession of any of the following licenses or certifications preferred: Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS).

  • Develop and administer division goals, objectives and procedures
  • Analyze and present operational data and statistics
  • Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals
  • Research, analyze and evaluate new services delivery methods and techniques

Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in assigned areas.
  • Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries from responders and address concerns or complaints from consumers.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provide specialized support focused on youth violence prevention within school settings.
  • Supervise Intervention Specialists working with high-risk youth; facilitate coordination with school staff and community partners.
  • Provide guidance and training for staff in guiding trauma-informed interventions, tools for working with youth, challenging and potentially emotionally demanding environments; use best practices in intervention and emotional trauma.
  • Ensure consistent communication, staff development, and program fidelity; promote safety and ensure adherence to a collaborative school-based response model.
