About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Acoustics and Noise Control Specialist to support noise analysis tasks for major transportation, construction, energy, and development projects across the U.S. This role involves traffic noise modeling, sound level measurements, and preparing client deliverables, with opportunities for career progression into other environmental and building acoustics specializations. The position requires a proactive communication style, attention to safety, and a client-focused attitude, with a hybrid work schedule and some travel expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, acoustical science, or environmental policy (or closely related fields).
  • US Citizenship is required due to the nature of work.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, acoustical science, or environmental policy.
  • Relevant experience in acoustics and/or noise control.
  • Familiarity with FHWA Traffic Noise Model (TNM 2.5) and TNM 3.1 or 3.2.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and tools.
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Excel.
  • Experience with equipment and procedures relating to conducting noise measurements.
  • Familiarity using ArcGIS software, Google Earth Pro, Revit, and/or BIM360.

Responsibilities

  • Primary support on noise analysis tasks for major transportation, construction, energy, and development projects across the U.S.
  • Perform predictive analyses with spreadsheet-based tools and commercially available software such as FHWA Traffic Noise Model and CadnaA.
  • Conduct and document attended sound measurements; download and process collected data for report or presentation content inclusion.
  • Research and review regulatory issues regarding local, state, and national codes.
  • Prepare client deliverables (e.g., letter reports, technical documents, and graphics).
  • Supervise a variety of sound level measurements in the field, often in outdoor environments.
