About The Position

The Acoustic Systems Technical Specialist role involves conducting experiments and analyses to evaluate the acoustic performance of components and systems. This position focuses on determining the acoustic behavior through numerical modeling and physical measurements, analyzing technical data, and providing design recommendations based on experimental results. The specialist will also engage in product testing, modeling and simulation, and problem-solving to enhance product design and meet customer requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field is required.
• 5-10 years of experience in acoustics engineering, specifically in industrial or manufacturing settings.
• Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience with a track record of technical problem solving.
• Proficiency in sound power measurement and analysis tools, and knowledge of ISO 3744/3745 standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with predictive acoustic simulation software such as SimCenter 3D, SIDLAB, VA-One or SoundPLAN.
• Background in IC Engine acoustics or power systems.
• Hemi-Anechoic experience.
• Experience designing mufflers and generator set acoustics.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acoustic behavior of components and systems through numerical modeling and physical measurements.
• Analyze technical data using descriptive statistics, probability distributions, and statistical inference.
• Select appropriate equipment and techniques for product testing and record operational data.
• Use computational tools to predict product capabilities relative to system requirements.
• Interpret test equipment specifications and integrate appropriate equipment for data collection.
• Solve product problems using data-based solutions and identify root causes to prevent recurrence.
• Build effective relationships inside and outside the organization to support collaboration.
• Develop and deliver communications that convey a clear understanding of different audience needs.
