DLR Group is an integrated design firm dedicated to elevating the human experience through design. We are currently seeking an Acoustic Designer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This position operates within a hybrid work model, allowing for flexibility between office time and remote work. As an Acoustic Designer, you will play a crucial role in the realization of award-winning design projects, collaborating with various design disciplines to create spaces that enhance the human experience. In this role, you will be responsible for developing technical tools that support our integrated design practice. You will assist senior staff with project design reviews, documentation, acoustic calculations, sound isolation, and other acoustic design tasks. Your collaboration will extend to architects, engineers, and project planners, providing guidance on sound isolation, room acoustics, environmental noise, and MEP noise and vibration control. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in acoustic consulting or a related field, with a degree from a four-year college program in acoustics, engineering, building sciences, or a similar discipline. You will be expected to possess a basic understanding of building acoustics concepts, including HVAC noise and vibration control, sound isolation, reverberation time, and sound propagation. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with proficiency in computer research, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are also key attributes for this position.
