About The Position

Hexcel is an industry leader in the manufacturing of advanced composite materials, including carbon fiber, woven reinforcements, resins, prepregs, honeycombs, and additive manufactured parts, driven by strong investment in research and development and a culture of continuous improvement. The company is seeking an Acousti-Cap Fabricator for its Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. This role involves setting up and operating various equipment for the preparation of core blanks for acoustical insertion and cap stabilization, as well as the layout and processing of acoustical panels. The fabricator will perform a wide range of tasks related to acoustical panel and aircraft engine blanket fabrication, including machine setup, measurement, adjustment, regulation, and control of processes, frequent computer use for data management, and detailed visual inspection of products to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.

Requirements

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
Minimum of one year experience required preferably in manufacturing.
Minimum of 6 months manufacturing experience in the Hexcel Casa Grande facility may substitute in lieu of one year experience.
Proficient in use of tape measure and ruler.
Basic working knowledge of computer data entry function.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Eligible candidate must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.

Responsibilities

Sets up and operates all equipment associated with the preparation of core blanks for acoustical insertion and cap stabilization processing equipment, lay out and processing of acoustical panels.
Performs a wide variety of tasks associated with the acoustical panel and aircraft engine blanket fabrication.
Sets up, measures, adjusts, regulates and controls all processes required to prepare core for acoustical insertion.
Controls insertion depth and consistency.
Controls dipping processes.
Measures flow impedance.
Uses computers frequently to input, analyze and retrieve data.
Sets up and adjusts core edge prep machine, core slotting machine for quality of drainage slots.
Sets up and adjusts septum insertion machine for depth and quality of insertion.
Adjusts dipping process for depth of adhesive dip and determines time of dipping and drain.
Measures air flow impedance/Rayl value of septumized core using the flow testing equipment.
Adjusts oven temperature and loads oven with dipped core.
Verifies that resins, solvents, and adhesives are within required operating parameters as applicable to each production machine.
Determines from M.O., the material to be processed and results to be achieved.
Adjusts machine temperature speed and air pressures.
Measures and/or checks material visually and/or physically to determine quality of process.
Performs close range visual inspection of mesh caps and insertion depths.
Visually inspects final product, as defined by visual aids, for shadow rings, holes, tears or debris in mesh caps, and alignment of cells between panels.
Inspects and presents to internal customers products that meet or exceed the product specifications.
Monitors processes to ensure product is being built per WCI’s and Job Routers.
Utilizes SPC where required.
Operates other equipment as needed.
