About The Position

Erlanger is seeking a dedicated and skilled ACNP or PA to join our Urology team at the Baroness campus. This inpatient role offers the opportunity to work closely with a fast-paced urologic surgeon, serving as a first assist in the OR and managing comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative patient care. In this position, the APP will assist in a variety of urologic procedures in the OR, contributing to surgical preparation, intraoperative support, and post-surgical recovery. The role includes managing patients before surgery through assessments and coordination, and after surgery by monitoring recovery, addressing complications and ensuring smooth transitions to discharge or follow-up care. The APP will also round on inpatient urology cases, collaborating with the care team to evaluate progress, update treatment plans, and communicate with patients and families. Discharge responsibilities include patient education, medication reconciliation, and coordination of outpatient services to ensure continuity of care. The ideal candidate will have prior OR experience and a strong interest in surgical care. This role is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is passionate about supporting patients through the full surgical journey.

Requirements

  • Completion from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program, Family Nurse Practitioner Program, Adult Nurse Practitioner Program (Acute care certification required) or Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Tennessee.

  • Previous OR experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in a variety of urologic procedures in the OR.
  • Contribute to surgical preparation, intraoperative support, and post-surgical recovery.

  • Communicate with patients and families regarding care and treatment.
  • Conduct patient education and medication reconciliation during discharge.
  • Coordinate outpatient services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
  • Develop evidence-based protocols and individualized plans of care.
  • Collect, document, and analyze patient data.
  • Participate in community and corporate education on urological topics.
  • Participate in clinical research and may assume the responsibility of research coordinator.
