What You'll Do As Acme B/S Set Up Operator at our Avon Lake facility, you’ll play a key role in our manufacturing process by setting up and operating Acme screw machines to produce high-quality components. This role requires mechanical precision, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Experience operating and setting up Acme screw machines or similar production equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Commitment to product quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to follow structured processes and maintain accurate records.
  • A proactive approach and flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints or job orders for specifications, including dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
  • Install and secure collets, bushings, and stock pushers, load bar stock into feeding mechanism.
  • Install and adjust cams, gears, and stops to control tool and stock movement.
  • Position and secure tools in holders; set cutting speeds and feed rates as required.
  • Cycle machines through settings and make necessary adjustments for performance and part accuracy.
  • Start machines, monitor operations, and perform first-piece inspections to verify conformity to specifications.
  • Submit conforming first-piece parts to Quality for approval.
  • Follow interval-based part checks and documentation processes.
  • Operate machine and follow 2-pan system procedures.
  • Replace or sharpen worn tools using a bench grinder.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
