Requirements

  • Cashier experience in a similar position or proficiency in a similar task.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to maintain a customer-focused culture.
  • Ability to use a cash register (POS system), computer, telephone, and other equipment.
  • Willingness to learn all areas of the store and help train others.
  • Skilled at providing prompt, friendly, and attentive customer service.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact with diverse customers.
  • A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise as arranged by management.
  • Maintain assigned department by keeping it clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management.
  • Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team.
  • Remove promotional bin tags and price tags as required.
  • Restock merchandise displays and monitor end caps and side wings.
  • Handle special orders for non-stock items and consult with management before denying customer requests.
  • Watch for shoplifters and take action in line with company policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and interaction.
  • Serve customers in assigned departments and provide needed advice or information.
  • Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process.
  • Use the Five Foot Rule to greet and acknowledge customers.
  • Promote the Ace Rewards program and describe the Ace Helpful Promise.
  • Assist customers with large or heavy items as needed.
  • Operate forklift safely for stocking and storing products.
  • Accurately handle money, checks, and other types of payment.
  • Verify the accuracy of the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Participate in all sales promotions and campaigns.
  • Practice suggestive selling and build customer relations.
  • Review and adhere to all laws affecting store operations.
  • Maintain a neat personal appearance and wear company uniform.
  • Address customer complaints positively and document for follow-up.
  • Ensure work area is clean and equipment is sanitized.
  • Participate in store communication and initiatives.
