About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking an Accuracy Control Metrology Technician to use a variety of 3-dimensional and standard optic tooling equipment to support the critical alignment of ships components and pairing major modules. The technician will be responsible for determining the proper tooling for the job, move the tooling throughout the shipyard to various job sites, complete the measurements assigned on procedural data sheets, and utilize a high degree of accuracy to complete the required tasks. The data collected by the technician during the survey, will transfer the work package over to the Accuracy Control Engineer and assist as needed with analysis and data review.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Profound understanding of quality and accuracy control.
  • Strong background in construction, fabrication, and alignment.
  • Calculate and understand units of measure in fraction and decimal form.
  • Ability to read and use a scale, tape measure, and level.
  • Read and interpret drawings, plans, tolerances, and construction diagrams.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and employees at all levels.
  • Self-starter and motivated to learn new technology.
  • Must be able to obtain both DBIDS and Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates/ bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of job experience related to surveying.
  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems.
  • Background in shipbuilding, construction, or manufacturing environments.
  • Comprehend construction tolerance block and how requirements apply during build sequence.
  • Optical level, total station, and laser tracker set up, operation, and recording of measurements.
  • Involvement with Spatial Analyzer, CAMM2, PolyWorks software.
  • Machine shop dimensional inspections.
