About The Position

The Accounts Payable Technician (A/P Tech) position is a part-time, contract role focused on performing routine accounting duties related to accounts payable. The technician will work under general supervision to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data, assist with vendor inquiries, and maintain accounting records. This role is essential for supporting the financial operations of the organization, particularly in a non-profit setting.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Accounting or related field and 1 year of experience in accounts payable or receivable, or 3 years of experience without a degree.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with ERP systems such as Workday, Banner, or SAP.
• Background in Higher Education, Governmental funds, or non-profit accounting.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices for payment.
• Set up new vendor accounts and verify compliance with W-9 and sam.gov.
• Confirm accuracy of processed checks and weekly disbursement with co-technician.
• Respond to vendor and department inquiries regarding accounts payable.
• File AP documents and journal vouchers, managing the filing system.
• Track and verify 1099's quarterly and research expense transfers.
• Initiate journal vouchers and sort daily incoming mail for the department.
• Assign and distribute purchase cards to personnel and maintain a log of incoming checks.
• Order office supplies and process office equipment repair requests.
• Update and create electronic/hard copy files of AP procedures.
• Provide backup for co-technician and assist with monthly sales tax returns.

Benefits
