About The Position

The Accounts Payable Internship at Colorado Springs Utilities offers college students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Financial Accounting department. Interns will work closely with the accounts payable team, learning about industry best practices and developing skills in processing invoices, identifying discrepancies, and managing solutions to common issues. This internship is designed to provide a well-rounded introduction to the accounts payable profession, with a focus on flexibility and adapting to changing priorities.

Requirements

• Strong critical thinking skills to work through different scenarios and potential solutions

• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Lawson)
• Experience with work management systems (e.g., Maximo)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Support team members by entering, receiving, reviewing, and processing invoices (50%)
• Identify, review, and manage solutions to simple issues, escalating larger or more complex issues to the team (15%)
• Develop and review reconciliation reports and vendor statements (15%)
• Assist with record management and documentation support, including opening and distributing mail (20%)
