About The Position

Equity Residential, an S&P 500 real estate company, is in search of a resourceful, efficient, detail-oriented financial professional and team player to join our Augusta Accounting team in our Augusta, Georgia Office as an Accounts Payable Coordinator (AP Coordinator). The Accounts Payable Coordinator is responsible for supporting and managing the accounts payable function across multiple properties. This role oversees the upload, review, and export of invoices into the OPS invoicing system and processes check payments for both Equity Residential operating properties and capital accounts. The AP Coordinator partners closely with the AP Supervisor, Regional Accounting Manager, and Senior and Staff Accountants to support reporting, reconciliations, and overall accounting accuracy. In addition, the AP Coordinator provides day-to-day leadership for a small team of AP Assistants, including training, development, workflow oversight, and hands-on support with troubleshooting issues as they arise. Requirements

  • High school diploma and previous data entry experience required.
  • 2+ years of experience with basic accounting and financial principles required, a proficiency in effective data entry as well as basic analytical & problem solving skills required to resolve vendor issues. Prior experience leading a team / holding a supervisory position strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong organizational skills, work independently while meeting deadlines, good communication skills, good grammar and spelling skills, be detail-oriented and have the ability to interact with internal and external people on a professional level.
  • Must have computer systems knowledge and proficiency to adjust to changes and proactively manage and recommend enhancements.
  • Must be able to prepare correspondence utilizing Microsoft Word and worksheets using Excel. Experience with Google Apps for Business is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates efforts of AP Assistants to ensure accurate and timely input of invoices. As needed, assists with the uploading, keying, and reviewing of vendor invoices.
  • Reviews for verification that the documentation is complete, accurate, and in compliance with company procedure including proper authorization for payment, coding and distribution to general ledger account, and account descriptions.
  • Performs vendor maintenance as needed (including setting up new vendors) and handles vendor calls regarding payments status and/or discrepancies.
  • Generates and oversees the mailing of checks for Equity Residential Management Corp, Equity Residential Operating LP in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Onboarding of new staff and training staff on all AP procedures and systems
  • Reviews work product of AP Assistants to ensure accuracy, consistently maintains staff scorecards, provides monthly feedback to staff and holds staff accountable for meeting minimum expectations.
  • Serves as back up assistance during busy periods.
