Job Title: Accounting Transformation Project Manager Location: Hybrid (Herndon, VA) Reporting to: Assistant Corporate Controller Role Overview The Accounting Transformation Project Manager leads coordination and execution of optimization initiatives across accounting functions. This role owns end-to-end project execution from problem identification through implementation. It serves as the central liaison between Accounting, IT, and external partners, ensuring initiatives are well-defined, aligned, and delivered on schedule. The ideal candidate combines a strong accounting foundation with project delivery experience, and can independently develop solutions, identify control risks, and drive initiatives forward while aligning with leadership on key decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience including:
  • Progression to Senior Accountant level
  • Experience in project management, systems implementation, or transformation roles
  • Strong understanding of practices across accounting workstreams
  • Experience coordinating ERP or finance-related projects
  • Proven ability to identify control risks and challenge non-compliant solutions
  • Experience working cross-functionally with IT and external partners
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations or finance transformation initiatives
  • Familiarity with workflow automation or reporting tools
  • PMP, Agile, or similar certification

Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight: Track all active Accounting Ops initiatives, including milestones, dependencies, risks, and timelines
  • Solution Development: Partner with Accounting teams to identify issues, develop solutions, and present recommendations for alignment
  • Execution Ownership: Drive initiatives through completion once direction is established, ensuring accountability across stakeholders
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as liaison between Accounting, IT, and consultants to ensure alignment and progress
  • Meeting & Communication Leadership: Run project meetings, track actions, and provide clear, decision-oriented updates to leadership
  • Control Awareness: Identify and challenge solutions that conflict with accounting best practices or internal controls
  • Documentation & Governance: Ensure processes, decisions, and changes are documented and audit-ready
