About The Position

The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing financial data for accuracy, integrity and compliance, be able to multi-task in a dynamic and challenging work environment while providing customer support. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Financial Management Division, FEMA Finance Center, Intergovernmental Payments Section, IAA & Reimbursables Unit. This unit is primarily responsible for reviewing payments on various types of interagency agreements for accuracy and compliance with laws and regulations (Treasury and OMB guidance) and posting payments through coordination with Treasury IPAC system in agency's financial management system. Also, the unit routinely exchanges financial progress data with other Federal agencies to facilitate the reconciliation of active agreements, accrue and report eliminations, and provide training/support to program offices throughout the agency.

Requirements

  • Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
  • You must be able to deploy with little or no advance notice to anywhere in the United States and its territories for an extended period of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reviewing and processing accounting transactions and/or invoices for payment or collection.
  • Validating data entered into a variety of accounts integrated into a large complex financial system for accuracy.
  • Using automated financial accounting systems for advanced financial functions.
  • Utilizing accounting systems and automated financial systems and knowledge of basic accounting concepts and internal controls.
  • Experience working with appropriations and funds.
  • Processing procurement authorities such as commitments, obligations, receiving reports, and contract amendments.

Responsibilities

  • Making detailed examination of transactions processed in the system to ensure they agree with accounting records.
  • Researching transactions and preparing routine requests for information and supporting documents.
  • Responding to inquiries from other program offices, regional offices, vendors, states, congressional offices, and other Federal agencies.
  • Entering data into the financial management system from financial documents using a computer data entry terminal.
  • Reviewing accounts in the accounting system to ensure individual transactions agree with and are supported by documentation.
  • Preparing routine requests for information, source and supporting documents or responds to inquiries for other kinds of information.
