About The Position

This accounting technician III position is one of eight claims processing positions assigned to the DSB/DVRS/DSDHH Claims Processing Unit. The positions in this unit are responsible for the screening and processing of payment requests from vendors and providers of services to eligible recipients of services of the public assistance programs in DSB, DVRS, and DSDHH. This position interprets third party billing and payments using policies and procedures outlined by Medicaid, Medicare and NCTracks. This position is expected to perform independently within established procedures and regulations and receive general instructions on methods of work.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in accounting OR High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in accounting work OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated experience in a medical billing environment.
• Demonstrated experience working in a financial system or Enterprise Resource System (e.g. QuickBooks, SAP, NC Financial System, etc.)
• Experience applying Medicaid, Medicare, Third Party Billing and NCTracks rules
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.
