What You’ll Do As the Accounting Technician you’ll ensure accurate and compliant financial operations for the agency by processing financial transactions, maintaining fiscal accounts and records, and reconciling discrepancies. Requirements

  • Two years of experience calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information that must include coding transactions and checking them for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits; OR One year of experience calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information that must include coding transactions and checking them for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits AND at least 43 quarter (29 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 9 quarter (6 semester) credit hours in accounting. Credit hours must include introductory level accounting courses 1 and 2; OR Successful completion of the State of Oregon Accounting Career Mobility Program or equivalent accounting certificate program from an accredited college or university; OR At least 94 quarter (62 semester) credit hours or an associate degree from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 12 quarter (8 semester) credit hours in accounting.
  • Credit hours must include introductory level accounting courses 1 and 2 and may include any additional accounting courses with “accounting” in the title.
  • Training or experience must include using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Employee will be required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license issued by the state where the employee resides.
  • The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word)
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and pivot to meet the changing needs of the work unit to meet both scheduled and unexpected deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, auditing skills, and demonstrated proficiency with creating and working with various reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a diverse audience to provide information in a clear, effective, and professional manner.
  • Ability to participate collaboratively as part of a team, as well as to work independently, seeking help when needed.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Oregon Accounting Manual (OAM), SFMA and RSTARS is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of government accounting policies, reconciliation processes, and electronic transaction-based accounting processes and systems
