About The Position

The Accounting Technician position at the Department of the Interior involves managing and verifying accounting data, preparing financial documents, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • Must have one year of full-time experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service applying accounting principles.
  • Experience must include maintaining and analyzing accounts in a diversified accounting system.
  • Must submit a resume and supporting documentation.
  • Must submit eligibility documents for veterans consideration if applicable.
  • Must meet any minimum education and/or experience requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review various accounting documents to verify accounting data and necessary entries.
  • Prepare required forms such as standard vouchers to enter data into the Financial and Business Management System (FBMS).
  • Prepare monthly reports for programmers on reimbursable activities.
  • Verify balances of advances, revenues, and expenses incurred monthly using cost reports.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly standard voucher documents and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is included.
  • Perform as charge card coordinator, reviewing all purchases and service charges on MasterCard statements for compliance.
  • Enter charge card statements into FBMS system for cost allocation purposes.
