The Accounting Technician is responsible for performing accounting and financial functions relative to the efficient operation of the finance department in a person-centered environment. The Accounting Technician can step in and cover basic duties that are done by the Chief Financial Officer in their absence. The Accounting Technician will assist with overall financial operations of the agency, including entering accounts payables, accounts receivables, cash receipts, etc.

  • Perform assigned accounting operations within Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Complete invoicing, accounts receivable/payable for agency-related entities.
  • Learn various duties and responsibilities and provide backup to Resource Specialist and Bookkeeping positions.
  • Preparation of accounting journal entries.
  • Pass the Medication Administration test with no more than two attempts and administer medication to clients according to physician orders and using appropriate administration techniques as outlined in the Medication Administration course, if needed.
  • Driving of agency vehicles as necessary for transportation of clients and agency business as assigned.
  • Assist with preparation of accurate and timely monthly financials within established deadlines each month.
  • Prepare monthly allocations and accruals for financial statements, as needed.
  • Serve as backup for the Bookkeeper when that staff member is absent.
  • Serve as backup for the Resource Coordinator when that staff member is absent.
  • Assist and prepare schedules for annual audits and annual 990 Reports.
  • Track and maintain all revenue and expenses for agency fundraisers, building rental, catering operations, etc.
  • Serve as a resource for Bookkeeper and Resource Specialist.
  • Work closely with the CFO to complete assigned duties and responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Plan and participate in agency functions and events.
  • Represent the agency in the represented communities through positive public relations and active involvement in civic functions.
  • Advise supervisor of concerns and problems that arise within the agency.
  • Follow agency procedures when purchasing items on behalf of the agency.
  • Safeguard all agency funds and property.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO, CFO, or designee.
  • Associate's Degree in the field of Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping OR two years of demonstrated experience in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of basic accounting (debits/credits/t-accounts).
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Computer skills (Google Workspace or Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) and keyboarding (10-key) are required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Licensed drivers with reliable transportation.
  • Background check, drug and alcohol check, reference check, and motor vehicle checks must be passed.
  • Current motor vehicle insurance is required.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains Accounting Software.
