About The Position

The Accounting Specialist at Osseo Area Schools serves as a project manager for district-wide initiatives, focusing on electronic payment systems and business analytics. This role is responsible for designing workflows to enhance departmental efficiency, overseeing accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with federal and state guidelines. The specialist will also conduct research on best practices and provide training to accounting staff, while maintaining the integrity of the Accounting Department.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or a two-year college or technical school certification in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field.
• 5 years of professional accounting work experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate workflow and provide functional design and strategy to increase departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
• Oversee the delivery and implementation of accounting programs and services, initiating applicable accounting actions.
• Establish project specifications and necessary design documentation, ensuring project objectives are met.
• Manage the development, assistance, and training of accounting team members and other users.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures, including process adherence.
• Research accounting best practices and develop recommendations regarding accounting procedures.
• Coordinate Finance System integration of outside system software and enhancements.
• Perform complex administration of various accounting programs and maintain related records.
• Advise and assist administrators and other employees with various aspects of accounting elements.
• Ensure accounting data system integrity is maintained and consistent with system parameters.
