The Accounting Specialist is responsible for various general ledger accounting and bank deposit operation functions. Including; processing/posting check, ACH, wire transfer, and other electronic settlement within time sensitive deadlines. In addition, posting/reconciling general ledger transactions and accounts.

  • Maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Analyze account activity, post journal entries, reconcile account balances, and close general ledger account at month end.
  • Process vendor payments.
  • Maintain monthly accounting of fixed assets and prepaid assets.
  • Work directly with other financial institutions to clear member transactions, or vendors to resolve payment issues.
  • Daily processing, settlement, and accounting of member financial transactions, including ACH, check processing, wire transfers, and other electronic settlements within time sensitive deadlines.
  • Identify and correct erroneous financial transactions before they negatively affect the member, result in a financial loss, or affect the reputation of the credit union.
  • Assist Other Departments in support of their daily operations.
  • Perform Other Duties as assigned.
  • Or, 2-3 years of bank/credit union general ledger accounting.
  • 2-3 years of ACH and check settlement processing. The Accredited ACH Professional certification is highly desired
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Or, completion of a specialized program of study at a business or trade school.
  • Strong computer skills including; MS Excel, MS Office. And general ledger, banking, and other financial software.
  • Aptitude for mathematics and ability to analyze, compare and interpret facts and figures quickly.
  • Ability to work independently to meet important goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • The Accredited ACH Professional certification is highly desired
