About The Position

The Payroll Specialist role within McDonald's Payroll Services Department is responsible for managing payroll processes for over 60,000 employees globally. This position focuses on higher-level payroll concepts, global mobility, system usage, and continuous process improvement, ensuring accurate and timely payment processing while adhering to internal controls. The role requires collaboration with various teams and effective communication to resolve payroll inquiries and support expatriate payroll operations.

Requirements

  • 1.5+ years of experience processing and/or calculating payroll and analyzing financial data.
  • 1.5+ years of customer service experience in a professional office/business setting.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, general ledger).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work both individually and as a team member.
  • Capability to adapt and leverage resources in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Aptitude toward technology and applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior expat payroll experience preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Payroll Certification preferred.
  • Experience working with Payroll System preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and utilize unique payroll requirements associated with expatriates, including tax applications and earnings adjustments.
  • Execute procedures for inpat shadow payroll processes and local taxation reporting.
  • Monitor mobility payroll cycles and resolve exceptions quickly.
  • Respond to labor inquiries from North American and international finance teams.
  • Run queries and prepare journal entries for expatriate labor cost distribution.
  • Reconcile reporting results and accounts related to intercompany activity.
  • Employ technical skills using corporate systems and advanced Excel or SQL tools.
  • Collaborate with OracleHCM support for new payroll solutions.
  • Communicate with IT, Legal, and Benefits teams as needed.
  • Exhibit teamwork and ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills in communication with crew, management, and internal teams.
