Student Health Services - Business Office: UCF Health - Student Health Services (SHS) provides various primary and specialty care services to help keep students, faculty and staff at their optimum health. The Health Center is located on the Main Campus. Our services are designed with students, faculty and staff needs in mind. Become a part of our committed UCF Student Health Team as a Accounting Specialist II and deliver outstanding care to our community. The Opportunity : Join the University of Central Florida (UCF) Student Health Services as an Accounting Specialist II and play a vital role in cash management to include daily deposit, cash, revenue and expense journal entries. Manage and reconcile Cash Health and accounts receivable processes for Student Health Services (SHS). Post all payments to electronic medical software. Reconcile explanation of benefits statements, contact payers and center departments for corrections or clarifications. Assist and resolve employee and patient questions. Assume Workday responsibilities for ISD, Athletic billings, rent billings, journal entries and journal entry corrections.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in medical billing, payment posting and financial processes.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) for payment posting, patient accounts, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in a lead role overseeing payment and reconciliation functions.
  • Experience using Workday.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Payment posting and claim adjustment functions for Business Office.
  • Ensure all payments are claimed appropriately in Cash Health and posted by month's end.
  • Responsible for auditing all pharmacy, insurance, dental, and patient student eligibility and claim adjustments.
  • SHS Cash management to include daily reconciliation of all monies received.
  • Prepare daily deposit and Workday entries for cash, credit cards, and paper checks.
  • Monitor petty cash status and perform quarterly petty cash reconciliation.
  • Obtain change for Cashier office as needed.
  • Initiate Workday journal entries and Internal Service Delivery (ISD) transactions to charge revenue (rent) and expenses for, but not limited to oral surgeons, faculty salaries, athletic invoicing, pre-employment physicals, Rosen and Jewett.
  • Process student and insurance credit card and paper check refunds.
  • Initiate Workday expense entry correction
  • Post incoming Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), checks, and credit cards for medical, patient, pharmacy and athletics payments to the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Research unclaimed insurance payments in Cash Health and determine department owner.
  • Assist patients with account resolution regarding past due balances and account holds in person or over the phone.
  • Monitor appointments calendar to ensure all scheduled appointments have been billed out.
  • Manage the paper check/EFT log and reconcile/verify all incoming items have been posted in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on any outstanding items.
  • Monitor "Insurance Coverage Terminated" claim status and relay to Insurance Department.
  • Perform collection and small balance write off transactions in eCW.
  • Prepare monthly eCW Adjustment Report for management.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, SHS Business Manager or SHS Assoc Director.
  • Timely completion of all required university, AHSC and SHS training.
