About The Position

The Accounting Program Manager oversees and strengthens core accounting programs, processes, and internal controls to ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources. This role serves as a senior individual contributor and program lead, driving process improvement, training, and cross-functional coordination to support accurate financial reporting, grant compliance, audit readiness, and alignment with the organization’s mission. Partnering closely with the CFO, Controller, Accounting Manager, program leaders, and cross-functional teams, the Accounting Program Manager supports month-end close, budgeting, audits, and fund accounting operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining donor confidence, ensuring compliance with grant and funding requirements, and promoting financial transparency that enables the organization to effectively serve the community.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, assess risk, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Experience with process improvement or systems optimization in accounting operations
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control principles, with experience applying them in a complex, multi-department organization.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting month-end close, quarterly reporting, and year-end audit processes.
  • Proven ability to design, document, implement, and optimize accounting processes and controls.
  • Experience working in an ERP system (NetSuite strongly preferred).

  • Experience working in and building reports in NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verify agency invoices for correct billing rates and pounds of food received; coordinate with CRT to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure donated POs are accurately coded, billed, and classified; collaborate with Receiving to address errors.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to refine processes and provide training for accurate NetSuite entries.
  • Serve as the primary Accounting contact for Supply Chain, Partner Relations, Development Operations, and Transportation.
  • Facilitate cross-department communication to support accurate financial reporting and operational alignment.
  • Lead development and optimization of accounting processes and programs.
  • Manage departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain the Accounting & Finance business continuity plan.
  • Support Executive Leadership Team and Directors with budgeting, including NetSuite updates.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and recommend write-offs as needed.
  • Assist the Audit Readiness Committee with audit documentation and compliance.
  • Provide training and support to accounting staff and cross-functional teams to strengthen financial knowledge and consistency.
