About The Position

The Accounting Policy Manager leads CCM’s technical accounting and accounting policy function. This role is responsible for researching, documenting, and implementing accounting guidance in accordance with U.S. GAAP, advising on complex and non-routine transactions, and ensuring consistent application of accounting policies across the organization. The Accounting Policy Manager partners closely with Finance, FP&A, Legal, Operations, and external auditors to support high-quality financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. This role serves as a key subject matter expert on new accounting standards and emerging guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or technical accounting experience.
  • Experience drafting accounting memos and technical position papers.
  • Experience evaluating complex transactions and applying authoritative guidance.
  • Experience working with external auditors and managing audit relationships.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the skill to explain technical accounting matters to non‑accounting stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or CPA certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical accounting function, including research, interpretation, and application of U.S. GAAP to complex and non-routine transactions.
  • Develop, maintain, and update formal accounting policies and position papers to ensure consistent application across the organization.
  • Evaluate and document accounting conclusions for significant transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, transfers of financial assets, goodwill, debt arrangements, equity transactions, impairments).
  • Monitor new and proposed accounting standards; assess business impact and lead implementation efforts.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide accounting guidance on strategic initiatives, contracts, and new product offerings.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors on technical accounting matters and support audit requests.
  • Review and approve technical journal entries and related disclosures for complex transactions.
  • Support preparation and review of financial statement disclosures related to technical accounting areas.
  • Strengthen and maintain internal controls over financial reporting related to technical accounting.
  • Provide training and guidance to accounting and cross-functional teams on accounting policies and new standards.
  • Participate in special projects, including system implementations, process improvements, and M&A activities.
  • Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year; monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
