About The Position

The Accounting Officer Intermediate position at the State of Minnesota's Department of Human Services involves providing direction for non-patient care billing accounts receivable and invoice creation. The role is crucial for maintaining an up-to-date billing system in compliance with statewide policies, preparing bank reconciliations, and assisting supervisors and managers. This position supports the financial operations of Direct Care and Treatment programs and requires strong analytical and organizational skills.

Requirements

• One (1) year of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or cash reconciliation experience with financial systems (i.e., SWIFT, GASB) and applications.
• Experience resolving fiscal discrepancies and developing fiscal procedures.
• Experience interpreting and analyzing fiscal data, reports, and records.
• OR three (3) years of administrative support experience in accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash reconciliation.

Nice To Haves

• Healthcare accounting or government accounting experience.
• Experience working with state or federal auditors.
• Experience with the State of Minnesota's SWIFT Accounting system or similar (Oracle's PeopleSoft).
• Proficiency in MS Access, SQL, BI Query, or similar database management skills.
• Knowledge of MMIS claims data/business analysis.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple demands under tight time constraints.
• Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain information for an up-to-date billing system in SWIFT for non-patient care DCT programs.
• Prepare bank reconciliations for social welfare and imprest cash accounts.
• Serve as a policy chair for the Managed Cash Advance for Employee Use policy.
• Manage funds for DCT programs and provide assistance to supervisors, managers, and other staff members as assigned.
