About The Position

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for managing housing development projects and utilizing the Yardi Construction Module. The Accounting Manager will have a wide range of responsibilities relating to accounting and working alongside the Assistant Controller in preparation for the organizations consolidation of audits with RB parent, RB Homecare, RB Moffat Gardens ALP (MGALP) and affiliate and management entities. The role will also ensure that month-end close, audit work papers, write ups, etc. are complete and available for auditing. The Accounting Manager must be fully conversant with individual project parameters, including pro forma financial projections, regulatory and management agreements. The Accounting Manager will analyze income statements, balance sheet, budget variance reports and prepare a summary for management and investors, collaborate in preparing budgets for housing affiliates and perform forecasting analysis, and assist with audit preparation for both housing and agency audits. Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:

Requirements

  • Minimum five years financial experience
  • Supervisory experience in finance with a similar organization
  • Proficient with Excel and other software programs
  • Proficient with Excel, Yardi and other software programs
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to pressure, work independently, proficiently, efficiently and must be able to meet deadlines
  • Bachelors Degree in accounting or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the staff accountant and 2 financial analysts for all housing affiliate entities and RB management entities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the housing affiliates team to ensure the delivery of high performance, acting as an enthusiastic, positive and motivated coach
  • Take full responsibility for the performance management of the team to ensure that quality and deadlines are achieved and maintained and that any issues are managed in line with RiseBoro policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Ensure team is appropriately staffed at all times
  • Coordinate training programs for new staff and identify training needs for current staff; attend training programs as appropriate.
  • Monitor housing affiliate and management entities bank accounts, review bank reconciliations, ensure accuracy and compliance, e.g. required reserve transfers
  • Oversee and approve journals and other entries to ensure on time month end closing, based on general ledger review; ensure all are posted with approved supporting documents
  • Ensure income transactions and expenses are correctly recorded for affiliated housing and management entities
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of general ledger (GL) account analysis
  • Review affiliated housing and management entities GLs for accurate classifications of expenses and income
  • Work with assigned housing staff to develop, prepare and upload budgets for all housing affiliates and management entities
  • In collaboration with Senior Financial Analyst, maintain and review month-end budget reports for affiliated housing and management entities
  • Produce periodic (monthly/quarterly) housing and management entity financial reports, for management, regulators, investors, etc., ensuring that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards; specifically, analyze income statements, balance sheet, funding vouchers, payroll allocations, budget variance reports, cash surplus reporting for limited partnerships, and provide explanatory information as necessary
  • Identify intercompany revenue and expense and reconcile due to/due from (DTDF) accounts
  • Verify and maintain accuracy of Accounts Receivable for affiliated housing and management entities.
  • Recommend and implement continual internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions for process improvement
  • Assist with preparation of compilations, reviews, and audits as appropriate per property and legal entity, as well as governmental contracts as relevant
  • Maintain all supporting audit schedules for housing affiliate and management entities
  • Prepare audit work papers for housing affiliate and management entities, and issue and manage audit confirmations
  • Prepare/assist in preparation of tax reporting for housing affiliate and management entities.
  • Ensure construction expenses are booked and recorded on construction module
  • Ensure construction requisitions are reconciled to general ledger; reconcile construction payments
  • Review financial reports required by the Limited Partners, HUD (202) and other investors/financial institutions as requested
  • Meet regularly with housing development staff for coordination of efforts
  • Thoroughly understand housing project parameters and pro forma, and maintain portfolios in audit-ready condition
  • Correspond with and build relationships with investors, regulators, and other relevant parties
  • Perform other duties as assigned
