About The Position

The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in advancing the organization’s mission by ensuring strong financial stewardship, compliance, and transparency. This position oversees day-to-day accounting operations with a particular focus on federal grant management, fund accounting, and regulatory compliance. Serving as a collaborative partner to program, grants, and leadership teams, the Accounting Manager approaches financial management in a way that is community-centered, supportive, and grounded in integrity. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5–7 years of nonprofit accounting experience
  • Federal grant compliance experience
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP
  • Supervisory experience
  • Advanced Excel skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and month-end close.
  • Ensure financial records reflect integrity, accountability, and transparency.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations with a focus on exceptional quality.
  • Oversee federal and pass-through grant accounting in compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
  • Monitor budgets, allowable costs, and cost allocations.
  • Prepare and review grant financial reports and drawdowns.
  • Collaborate as a trusted partner with Program and Grants teams.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Lead preparation for the annual audit, Single Audit, and financial monitoring reviews from funding sources.
  • Serve as primary contact with auditors.
  • Assist with Form 990 preparation.
  • Ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
  • Develop goals, and ongoing training for accounting staff.
