About The Position

Accounting managers generally need at least five years of experience, as well as solid communication, technology and analytical abilities. Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is also valuable. Helps with driving business results, planning & forecasting, financial reporting & analysis. We also have required monthly and quarterly flux analysis that must be completed, and also heavy involvement in the month end process. This person will also have the responsibility of managing an ACII. Manage the workflow through workday and filtering questions. Also manage an accounting clerk. The Accounting Manager will manage daily accounting workflow in Workday, oversee an Accounting Clerk, and take full ownership of the month-end close and related deadlines. This role is heavily focused on operational accounting, financial accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration. Companies expect a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, but prefer candidates with advanced credentials such as a master's degree in business administration (MBA) or certified public accountant (CPA).

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years
  • Not entry-level due to supervisory responsibilities
  • Corporate accounting preferred over public accounting (but transferable with training)
  • No specific ERP required
  • Excel proficiency is essential
  • All other tools will be taught during training
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, finance, budgeting, and cost control
  • SOX knowledge
  • Intermediate-Advanced Excel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize in a multitasked environment
  • Confidence working with senior leaders (VPs, managers)

  • Distribution or corporate finance experience (preferred, not required)

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Maintaining the general ledger system.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Assisting with, regulatory reporting as applicable.
  • Researching authoritative literature for proper treatment of accounting topics.
  • Coordinating the budget process
  • Hiring, training and supervising accounting staff.
