About The Position

In-Office, Charlottesville, VA Park Properties Management Company, a full-service leader in property management, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team. This role requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, along with exceptional organizational ability. The Accounting Manager ensures accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all financial processes while supporting daily operations of the accounting department. The ideal candidate thrives under tight deadlines, learns quickly, and is both hands-on and self-motivated. Reporting to the Sr. Vice President this position oversees general accounting functions, including supervision of staff, monitoring and analyzing accounting data, and preparing financial statements and reports. Key responsibilities include managing the general ledger, payables, receivables, budget reporting, monthly reconciliations, quarterly investor reporting, assisting with annual budgets, audits, and year-end close. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, and 3+ years of public accounting experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). CPA preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles, plus supervisory skills to manage staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication; ability to build positive relationships across teams.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills; strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and operate independently.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables); Yardi experience a plus.
  • Strong math skills for calculations and data interpretation.
  • Professional, team-oriented attitude with a "can-do" mindset; takes ownership of deliverables.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the daily duties of AR invoicing, vendor payments, and bank reconciliations
  • Perform all cash management, analyze cash flow, and recommend funding levels
  • Review job cost reports and ensure accuracy
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and maintain general ledger compliance
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and quarterly investor updates
  • Assist with annual budgets, audits, and year-end close
  • Monitor internal controls and recommend policy improvements
  • Support accounting system updates and software maintenance
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
