Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee a portfolio of small to mid-sized business clients. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with deep QuickBooks Online expertise who thrives in a client-facing environment. This is not a CPA-track, SEC, SOX, or IFRS-focused role. Instead, this position centers on strong bookkeeping leadership, reconciliations, cleanup work, and multi-client portfolio management. The Accounting Manager will manage approximately 30–40 client relationships, oversee full-cycle accounting functions, supervise one direct report, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance support.

Requirements

  • Experience: 10–20+ years of progressive accounting and bookkeeping experience
  • Significant experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously
  • Strong background in reconciliations, cleanup engagements, and financial reporting
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (required)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and small business financial operations
  • Education & Certifications: Accounting degree preferred but not required
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise are valued over formal credentials
  • Other Requirements: Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and client service abilities
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote or hybrid environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Oracle is a plus
  • CPA not required

Responsibilities

  • Client Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of approximately 30–40 clients, overseeing full-cycle accounting services including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and month-end close.
  • Reconciliations & Cleanup: Lead complex reconciliations and cleanup/catch-up engagements, ensuring accuracy, organization, and audit-ready books.
  • QuickBooks Online Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in QuickBooks Online, optimizing workflows and ensuring best practices across client accounts.
  • Compliance Oversight: Oversee 1099 preparation and property tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate completion in coordination with internal teams.
  • Client Advisory & Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, reviewing financial results, answering questions, and providing practical accounting guidance to support informed business decisions.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor one direct report, reviewing work for accuracy and fostering a high standard of service delivery.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and improve overall efficiency within the client accounting function.
