About The Position

The Accounting Manager is a key member of the finance team, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions, including AP processing, assist with payroll when necessary, working closely with the leadership team to support the health center’s mission of providing high-quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services. This position has the ability for growth within the Organization.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting (FASB 958)
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., MIP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities, with capacity to manage and develop a team.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to the Organization’s mission.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in nonprofit healthcare or Federally Qualified Health Centers strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, cash management, and other core accounting functions.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the accounting system
  • Record and reconcile daily bank deposits.
  • Process and code AP invoices through ACH or paper checks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Serves as main point of contact for external accounting partners.
  • Collaborate with leadership team to ensure appropriate allocation of expenses and timely grant drawdowns.
  • Assist with annual financial reviews.
  • Develop, document, and monitor internal control policies to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in corrective action plans and strengthen segregation of duties and reconciliation processes.
  • Serves as alternative point of contact for all payroll functions.
