About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing core accounting operations, including month-end and year-end closing, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit and tax support. This role partners closely with the Director of Finance and cross-functional leaders on special projects, process improvements, and new business initiatives. The position requires strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-entity healthcare environment. This is a hybrid position based out of our office in Quincy, MA.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• CPA required.
• Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Proficiency with accounting systems; experience with Sage/AccPac preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Healthcare industry experience preferred.
• Multi-entity accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support the full month-end close cycle for approximately thirty-five legal entities, including preparation of internal reporting packages.
• Record and analyze monthly revenue and cost allocations.
• Perform monthly balance sheet, cash flow, and P&L variance analysis to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance.
• Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee and manage the month-end close process and calendar.
• Manage the daily activities of the Accounts Payable and Payroll teams.
• Prepare and review monthly partner reporting packages.
• Collaborate across the Shields network to gather financial data required for close and reporting.
• Prepare year-end schedules and work papers to support tax filings and external audits.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of close and reporting activities.
• Support the budgeting process and partner with the FP&A team.
• Respond to ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as requested.
